Rites of Passage

You have been through a lot to get to this point.

But you haven't made this journey on your own.   There have been others who have helped you get where you are.  There are others who needed to be eliminated for you to get this far.

That is why the Rites of Passage exists.

Jeff Probst has said that modern fans don't like them.  He is wrong,  He thinks that there are "more important" things to showcase on the final episode.  Some people disagree. (including myself)

I think that taking the time to reflect on your journey is extremely important part of preparing for the final tribal council.

As the 3 of you walk down the path, you will encounter the torch of your fallen tribe mates.  Stop.  Reflect on what they have meant to you.  Move to the next one.

This is a special moment in time.

(I'm including a link to the YouTube selection of different US Rites of Passages from over first few seasons of the show)

(Note for everyone else, even if they are talking about you - this is ONLY for these 3.  You will have a chance to have your say at the Final Tribal Council)

The names (torches) start below.   Enjoy your walk through your memories of this special event in time.

lawchicky... man, what do I say? You scared me! I'll be completely honest and say that I thought that playing up the goat strategy was a good one, and probably the best move you could have made given what was going on in the game at the time. I really thought about trying to use that to my advantage and seeing if I could keep you safe, but I won't mince words: you were absolutely 100% a threat to me. If you ended up making it to Final Tribal Council, I really do think you would have won, hands down. So I'm both sorry and happy that it didn't work out that way, because sitting next to you in the end was just too terrifying a prospect for me at the time. That being said, I would absolutely love to play this Survivor game again with you, and if we ever end up on Survivor the TV show in the same season together, you'd better believe I'd be going straight to you. You were a tough competitor and you put out some really strong work this season.

lawchicky ... I really, really wish we could have worked together for a long time. You have such a great mind for this game, and I think we would have made a fearsome pairing. And I did want to play Survivor with people who wanted to play Survivor! Maybe if things had been different and we had started out on the same tribe. As it was, though, by the time you came to me, I already had an alliance with bsgsix and she wanted you out and you wanted her out, and it was just never going to work, and I had to make a choice.

I also think if you had made it even just a little bit further, you would have been such a massive threat, and I wouldn't have stood a chance!

I really do hope that someday we can work together for real. You are such a great competitor, and you had some great entries — I still think about that one with the client who kept changing his story around!

I've read your work in Idol for years, but never really got to know you as a person until this mini-season. Your competitiveness intimidated me a bit after we all became one tribe, but I appreciated your extensive knowledge of the game and your ability to strategize!
You're talented at writing both fiction and for non-fiction, and I was glad to have the chance to read more of your work this season! I especially enjoyed your non-fiction entry for "Keel-Hauling" (I still think about that one), and your "Smash and Grab" and "Caught In The Web" stories.
Thanks for being a spirited member of Asaga, and for all you brought to our team chats and collaboration! You gave us a lot of your energy, and I can't imagine where you found that "extra" with a busy family and a demanding job, but you had it in spades and I appreciated it. :D
