If I'd known Week 13 was going to turn out like this, I would have called it Week 12.5 and then skipped immediately to Week 14, so that we could avoid it altogether!

Alas, Week 13 existed, and with that existence, comes a new batch of saying goodbye to folks.

There was one sacrifice, [livejournal.com profile] jake67jake who I thought was having a really good run of it. Unfortunately, that Real Life and Real Life Events have a way of throwing even the best of us off.

The rest of the crowd leaving us this week are some old friends, and favorites,

Goodbye to

[livejournal.com profile] sarcasmoqueen
[livejournal.com profile] theun4givables

I hope that we will see you in the Home Game, and out and about cheering on your favorites!

Thank you for coming out, and I'm sorry that your run didn't last longer, but I hope you still managed to have fun and get a lot of writing done in the process.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Second Chance results posts hurt even more than the regular eliminations do. Because these are people who went through that, and who are trying to get another shot. And when the results are filled with contestants that I've gotten to know over the years (two of them I've actually spent time with in person)... yeah, that's never a fun post to have to make.

But "have to make it" is what it comes down to. It's why we are here. Only a handful of people are going to make it out of Second Chance, and at the end of the day, only one person is going to win Season 10 of LJ Idol!

Which means that there will be eliminations, and all of them are going to be sad.

So, might as well rip that bandaid off instead of just talking about it...

Leaving us from Second Chance, and hopefully joining us in the Home Game, are

[livejournal.com profile] copyright1983
[livejournal.com profile] dee_aar2
[livejournal.com profile] estelle
[livejournal.com profile] lawchicky
[livejournal.com profile] sra33

I'd say that my stomach hurts writing that. But I'm not sure that has anything to do with the results. ;)

Thank you so much for coming out this season and helping to make it special!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Good evening.

For some of you at any rate.

For others, this journey of Season 10 is at an end. Well, hopefully the bigger journey - that of continuing to write and explore their talents, to push themselves - and of course to do so as part of the Home Game, while cheering for their personal favorites still in the hunt!

4 people are leaving this week, but we already know who one of them is, because of the sacrifice in the Voting post itself.

Our sacrifice is the mighty [livejournal.com profile] sestinaqueen

Joining her are

[livejournal.com profile] garnigal
[livejournal.com profile] kbr_shorts
[livejournal.com profile] quiltingdragon

Thank you so much for coming out this season and for making it special. This is a really good group of people assembled here for our 10th season and I hope that you will continue to be a part of that.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
If you haven't figured out that polls in Season 10 are going to be decided by only a couple votes, you haven't been paying attention.

This week in Second Chance was no exception to that rule. 3 veterans and 1 newbie are leaving us this week.

Goodbye to

[livejournal.com profile] aresrising05
[livejournal.com profile] i_love_freddie
[livejournal.com profile] magazhchi
[livejournal.com profile] waveform_delta

Thank you so much for coming out this season, and I hope that we will continue to see you around, rooting for your favorites, and participating in the Home Game!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
11 weeks into Season 10, and things are continuing to heat up!

The bottom 3 are going this week, and not only are there some heartbreaking results, and but also we only avoided a massive tie-breaker by a *single vote*. (to the point that I had actually already wrote up the post saying that there was going to be one!)

It's two veterans and a newbie that I've really been enjoying seeing fighting to stay in it.

Season 10 definitely seems to like doing things that way!

Leaving us this week are

[livejournal.com profile] banyangirl1832
[livejournal.com profile] reckless_blues
[livejournal.com profile] saintegloire

Thank you so much for coming out this season, and I hope we will continue to see you around, and participating in the Home Game!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
In true Idol tradition, it came down to 1 vote that separated who stays and who is leaving us. For awhile, I thought we were going to start Second Chances off with a tie! But in the last hour or so, that one vote ended up reshuffling the deck.

That's why it's important to make sure you are letting people know what's going on over here in this corner of the internet, because you can never be sure if that one vote is what could keep your dreams alive.

Unfortunately, we are saying goodbye to 3 SCI contestants today. All of them are veterans and I really hope we will continue to see them around, and be able to read their work every week as part of the Home Game.

Goodbye to

[livejournal.com profile] dreamwriters
[livejournal.com profile] kristalsawesome
and
[livejournal.com profile] vik_thor

Thank you for all that you have done this season to help make it special.

As for the rest of you Second Chancers - Congratulations, the new topic will be up later tonight.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Of all the eliminations I hate, the one that takes place just after Second Chance closes is one of the worst.

For awhile, I thought there was going to be massive tie, but with the sacrifice things ended up shaking out to it just being the 4 folks I had originally said would be going. That just goes to show though just how close voting is at this point in the season. Every single vote can make the difference.

I DO hope that we will end up seeing you guys in the Home Game though, and in the Green Rooms to continue to cheer on your personal favorites.

Until then though, we are saying goodbye to

Thank you so much for coming out this season, and helping make it something special.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
You never know how a season is going to shake out. Heck, this season, I'm not entirely sure how it is going to go week-to-week.

Of the four people leaving us this week, 2 are sacrifices:

The extremely promising newbie [livejournal.com profile] llblckraincloud and Season 9 Winner [livejournal.com profile] suesniffsglue!

Not sure that either of you will be available to jump into Second Chance, but hopefully life gives you the time and space for the Home Game!

Those last two spots? In Season 10 fashion, there is a 4-way tie!

[livejournal.com profile] cheshire23
[livejournal.com profile] kajel
[livejournal.com profile] magazhchi
[livejournal.com profile] morettaallstar

are going into a Sudden Death Write-Off!

4 enter. 2 survive to fight another week!

It's an "Open Topic", so you can write on anything, just remember to "bring it"!

There will be an identified thread, below, to link your entries. You have until Monday, Feb 27th at 8pm
Have fun!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
It just goes to show that the old adage of "go with your first instinct" is often right. Originally, I had planned on eliminating 6 contestants this week, but at last minute, changed it to 5! If there had been 6, this would be straight forward. As is, there is a tie that will have to be solved.

Before we get to that though, there is the matter of the people leaving us this week. Everyone on this list - and in the tie - is someone that I have been enjoying this season. We're kind of getting to that point where it will always be true.

Goodbye to

[livejournal.com profile] dreamwriters
[livejournal.com profile] estelle
[livejournal.com profile] fannishliss

When I say that I hope you guys come back for Second Chances, that is starting "really soon", I *MEAN* "really soon". So hopefully I won't have to wait to read more of your stuff.

as for the others, there are 3 contestants in the tie, and only 1 spot left in the game for them.

[livejournal.com profile] aniron_iorhael
[livejournal.com profile] bunnika
[livejournal.com profile] quiltingdragon

The tie-breaker is another 24-hour "Open Topic", which means you can write anything you want. Bring it! You are writing for your life! I will post a thread below, that is only for the tie-breaker contestants. You have until Friday, Feb 17th at 10pm EST to link your entries.

There will be a thread below.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
When I announced that there were going to be 4 contestants leaving this week, I didn't know it was going to come down to only 1 of those spots being from the actual poll.

[livejournal.com profile] lawchicky sacrificed.
and there were 2 unrecorded "bye outs" that I am treating as sacrifices:
[livejournal.com profile] dreamsreflected and [livejournal.com profile] mossmonday

Which means there is only one more slot left.

We are saying goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] waveform_delta

Again, all veterans. I'm starting to wonder what the newbies are putting in the water!

Thank you so much to all of you for coming out this season, and I hope that we will see you in the Home Game - and in the upcoming Second Chances!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Every week comes with it’s own surprises, and this week is no different.

It was another close one, coming within a few votes of completely changing the outcome.

Going into it, I wouldn’t have said that we would be saying goodbye to 3 veterans, and yet, here we are.

We are losing

[livejournal.com profile] lostin_thestars
[livejournal.com profile] poppetawoppet
[livejournal.com profile] vik_thor

Hopefully we will be seeing you in the Home Game, and making another run at it via the upcoming Second Chances!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
What if you had a tie-breaker, and people gave you another tie?

The instinct is to keep at it until the tie (or someone) breaks.

But instead, I'm advancing both [livejournal.com profile] kbr_shorts and [livejournal.com profile] shanns_ljidol to Week 6, with a caveat: that they are doing so in a tribe of two.

So go forth and write - http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/971359.html you will be seeing each other again soon!

(You, somehow, manage to survive another head-to-head? Third times the charm. There's something special at the end of that rainbow)
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
The axe has fallen once again - and again, it was really close.

A single vote separated people from going and it being a 6-way tie.

Two votes? That could have created a 7 way tie. (or a 10 way if those 1 vote up also received a vote)

Anyway, what I'm trying to get across here is that *every single vote matters*. If you haven't picked up on that yet, now is a good of time as any to learn that lesson!

As is... we have two people being eliminated, and it's a 3 WAY tie! (AKA, that axe fell *most* of the way, but not *all* the way)

What this means is it's another Sudden Death Write-Off between

[livejournal.com profile] kbr_shorts
[livejournal.com profile] shanns_ljidol
[livejournal.com profile] thepheenixeyri

It's an Open Topic. Which means you can literally write anything you want. Bring it!

2 of you will be eliminated, and 1 will move forward to Week 6.

I'll be posting a thread below for you to link at. The deadline to link your entries back to that thread is tomorrow. Thursday, Jan 19th at 10pm EST

Have fun!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
There was supposed to be a "write to the death" match tonight.

Unfortunately, one of the two did not make it to the ring. Which means they are automatically eliminated.

It's a horrible way to lose [livejournal.com profile] i_love_freddie. I was hoping to see a lot more of you. Hopefully that will happen in the Home Game, and Second Chance!

As for [livejournal.com profile] dreamwriters - their entry is at http://dreamwriters.livejournal.com/112902.html so make sure to go over and give it some love! Congratulations, now go get to work on your Week 5 entry! :)
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
It's another week and the results are in. As usual, it ended up being really close. The gap between staying and leaving was a single vote.

Less than that if you count the vote I received by email, because they were having trouble logging into LJ. Which is an unusual situation. (Not that having trouble on LJ is unusual, but it making the difference *is*.) Instead of allowing a vote that no one else can see determine who is leaving though, I will be doing something else. I'll mention it in a moment, because first we need to actually say goodbye to someone:

[livejournal.com profile] kristalsawesome

This was a rough week and I was actually surprised to see you going this time around. I really hope that you will continue to Home Game and get back into the thick of things once Second Chance rolls around, because I think you have a lot more to offer this season and I'd love for people to get the chance to read more of your writing.

As for the second person leaving, without that email ballot, there is a tie. Which means there needs to be a tie-breaker between

[livejournal.com profile] dreamwriters and [livejournal.com profile] i_love_freddie!

I'll be posting a comment below. Only those two should comment to it. (so that it doesn't get lost.)

Tie-breakers at Idol - for those who have never experienced them before, are Sudden Death Write-offs!

You have until Wednesday, Jan 11th at 9pm - that's tomorrow. It's Open Topic, so you can literally write anything you want. Bring it! Because this is about survival!

Good luck to you both!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Sorry for the delay.

This time I can literally blame it on Canadians!

Damn them and their unexpectedly coming into town for a couple days and springing it on you at the last minute.

Fortunately, I already knew what was going to happen this week.

I said there would be 2-5 people leaving, and that it would be decided by where the numbers broke. Well, people made it extra easy for me.

We have three sacrifices!

Which means leaving us this week are:

[livejournal.com profile] alephz
[livejournal.com profile] cindynmuttnaz
and [livejournal.com profile] karmasoup

Which is definitely some very talented people, but they are also people that I'm relatively sure will be fighting for a spot during Second Chance when that rolls around.

For the rest of you - I'll be posting the next Topic thread and Work Room shortly, with an extra special surprise/treat.

I am still tallying the actual results. Once I am done though, if you want to email me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com and ask where you ranked this week (the general "low/medium/high") I will be able to provide you with that information.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
If saying goodbye were easy, people would be better at it.

After 10 years of this, it still sucks. Especially when, as it is in this case, that we are saying goodbye to a couple people that I find myself smiling when I see them return.

Because these are two veterans. Both have only played one season before this (9 in the first case and 7 in the second - if my records are right). But they are familiar faces in the crowd, old friends returning to the fold.

Early on though, people can get lost in the shuffle - and with this season, while there isn't as much of a shuffle, there also isn't as much room for someone to fully get their legs under them for a longer run.

Which means that tonight we are saying goodbye to

[livejournal.com profile] kotenok_angel and [livejournal.com profile] shadows_of_pyre

I hope we will continue to see you around, in the Home Game though, and that you will jump back into the fray once Second Chance kicks into gear a little later in the season!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
One vote in Tribe 1.
Two votes in Tribe 2.

That is how close it was between who was staying and who was leaving. It's why it is important to make sure you cast a vote every week to keep your favorites in the running.

This week we are losing two veterans, and two friends of Idol. One has been around for awhile and the other coming back after a long absence:

[livejournal.com profile] grail76
[livejournal.com profile] worldofcraimar

Thank you so much to both of you for coming out this season. I hope we will continue to see you around!

The one piece of good news? There *will* be a Second Chance later this season. So please Home Game, and be on the look out for your shot to get back into the fray!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Wow.

Let me look at that again.

Wow.

196 people came out to vote this week.

I saw some *old* friends in those numbers. It's always nice to know that people are paying attention even when they aren't active in the community.

Every time people say that LJ is dead, look at what can happen if you just push a little to get them to come out! :)

This was a back and forth struggle between two Titans of LJ Idol that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!

In the end though, by a narrow margin - our second place finisher was the always fantastic [livejournal.com profile] gratefuladdict, who has managed to do this "going to the finals" thing two times. Which is, by the way, the first time that's been done!

Our winner is the first male to ever take home the crown on his own - the one, the only [livejournal.com profile] prog_schlock!!!

You did [livejournal.com profile] kittymichaels proud. He would have been really happy to see this. (Well, he would have won. But maybe he would have made you think you had something to do with it)

Congratulations to both of you!

Congratulations as well to everyone who came out for this mini season and left it all on the field. Thank you for your continued love and support!

Dreslinski out.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
There were a few minutes, around 8:30, that I had no idea what I was going to be saying tonight.

I thought I knew, coming into today, but there was a strong surge that made me wonder.

That said, the results are in and the final two are set.

But before we get there, we have to say goodbye to two awesome people, who are also talented writers.

One is a veteran and the other is the last remaining newbie.

Newbies have never won a mini-season (in contrast to the regular seasons, where a veteran has only won 2 of 9!) so there were definitely times I wondered if [livejournal.com profile] orockthro was going to be the one to break that curse. She wasn't, but she sure gave it a damn good run, and was the last remaining Avocado standing!

The other Avocado is also leaving, having come further than she has ever been in a season, mini-season or anything (she also did really well in Exhibit B) . There was *a lot* of buzz that she could be the winner. Who knows what would have happened if RL had not sideswiped her.

She is [livejournal.com profile] kathrynrose and she too is leaving us. (*kicks her on the way out*)

Thanks to both of you for your time and dedication - but most of us, for giving us weeks of awesome things to read!

I hope we will continue to see you in the "10th anniversary celebration" and of course when Season 10 kicks off later this year!
